I have a program that can record my computer screen. It is capable of storing everything in the MP4 format. However, I came across a problem when inputting the MP4 files into Windows Movie Maker to be modified. Then I looked for solutions on the Internet. I attempted various software programs before AVS Video Converter.

I download AVS Video Converter, which enables you convert many different video file formats. For instance, you can convert avi, asf, mov, rm, rmvb, YouTube videos, flv, mkv, mpg, 3gp, m4v, vob, etc file formats to MPEG-1 and MPEG-2, mpg (PAL or NTSC), mp3, wma, ogg, aac, avi, mp4, wmv, swf, flv, mkv, wave and m4a.

I converted an MP4 file to AVI by the following steps. First, run AVS Video Converter and click “Add Video” in the upper left corner. Second, navigate to the MP4 file and choose the file. Third, press the button of “Edit” in the Menu Bar at the top. Scroll it down to the bottom and then tap options.
Press “Browse” in the Select Output Folder section and then choose the folder that you want the ripped file to locate. Ensure that you remember the location so that you can find it when needed. Many users ignore this point and therefore lose their ripped file.
The Profile section usually locates on the top right of AVS Video Converter. In this section you can select from various video formats. I have attempted many file formats and to input video into Windows Movie Maker I find the “Customized AVI Movie (*.avi)” selection performs best.

I have found the default settings work well. Of course, you can try the other settings that are accessible in AVS Video Converter.

Finally, you can simply press the “Convert” button, which locates next to the “Add Video” button. You can go through the conversion process from the status bar. When the conversion is finished, AVS Video Converter beeps and then you will find a window pops up. Just press No Thanks and continue.

Now you can navigate to its location to find the AVI file. For me, I ran Windows Movie Maker, input my converted file, and began to modify it.

I have converted some other video formats and AVS Video Converter works well.
